Savannah, GA

I’ve been in Savannah the past two days. While my first week on the road was very fun and I enjoyed seeing everyone, my social battery was drained. So two days alone in Savannah is exactly what I needed. I chose to take it easy. I had slow mornings, explored the city after lunch, and had relaxing evenings.

Yesterday, I had to take my car to the shop. The day before I started my road trip, I noticed that the cover of one of my tail lights had fallen off. The lights still worked, but since the cover wasn’t there, it was possible for water to get in and cause damage. I ordered the replacement part and sent it to Miami. Luckily, it was a quick fix and I had my car back in a few hours. In the afternoon, I walked around Savannah’s historic district. It has 22 historic squares and I saw all of them. They’re all pretty close to each other, so I didn’t have to walk as much as you’d expect, but it was still 5.5 miles. I also visited the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist. It is beautiful!

Today, I walked River Street. As the name suggests, the street is along the Savannah River and it has a lot of little shops and boutiques.

Savannah has been a restful and enjoyable stop. Tomorrow, I’m heading to Asheville, NC, with a stop at Congaree National Park along the way for a quick hike.

Good idea to take it easy for a couple of days even though it sounds like you were pretty busy.
